PC Makers Incl. HP and ASUSTeK Begin Adopting CXMT Chips: Report
04 Aug 2026 12:47
Spiking demand for AI infrastructure triggered large-scale shortages of components including memory chips, according to Nikkei Asia.

Leading PC manufacturers including HP Inc. (HPQ.US), ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (ASUUY.US) and Acer Therapeutics (ACER.US) started adopting DRAM chips from CXMT (688825.SH) subsidiary ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT), although applications currently remain limited in scale.

Several major PC manufacturers completed validation procedures for CXMT DRAM chips in mid-2026 and have started limited deployment in notebook computers, the report said, citing sources.

However, current usage volumes and adopted models remain very limited because CXMT prioritizes most of its production capacity for Chinese customers including Huawei, while the relevant models are sold only in markets outside the US.

PC manufacturers reportedly remain contained about using CXMT chips, possibly given concerns that adopting Chinese chips could upset major global memory chipmakers including Micron Technology, Inc. (MU.US), Samsung Electronics and SK hynix Inc. (SKHY.US).
